Our year of author readings and signings here draws to close with a story of inspiration, faith, and family from our own community. Many Seattle Times readers will remember Times sports columnist Jerry Brewer's moving "Prayer for Gloria" series, in which he wrote about seven-year-old Gloria Strauss, her parents and her six brothers and sisters, as they coped with Gloria's treatments, and subsequent death from neuroblastoma, a form of cancer. Gloria's Miracle (San Juan Publishing) is now a book that tells this story, for which Jerry Brewer received a Pulitzer nomination when it ran in the paper. Joining Jerry Brewer this evening is Gloria's father, local basketball coach Doug Strauss. Please join us.
