Presented by ROOTS OF EMPATHY. Mary Gordon believes the solution to bullying and other anti-social behavior lies within each child's natural sense of caring and compassion, which means empathy could change the world—if we infuse our children with it. An educator, author, child advocate, and parenting expert, Mary Gordon is the founder of Roots of Empathy, an international classroom program that aims to reduce levels of aggression among schoolchildren. Ms. Gordon, a member of the Order of Canada, and an Ashoka Fellow, has chronicled the creation of this award-winning program in her book, Roots of Empathy: Changing the World Child by Child (The Experiment). Admission is free, no tickets are needed. Town Hall Seattle is at 1119 Eighth Avenue (entry downstairs at Seneca Street). For more information, please see www.rootsofempathy.org.

Co-presented with IMAGE: A Journal of Art and Religion. Many times over the years we have co-presented readings by writers whose work has appeared in the nationally-distinguished, Seattle-based journal IMAGE. This evening is a celebration of its first, full-length anthology, Bearing the Mystery: Twenty Years of IMAGE (William B. Eerdmans). And it's an opportunity to reflect on IMAGE's place as a magazine where some of our best contemporary writers and artists bring work informed by, or grappling with, religious faith. Among those expected to be here tonight are local contributors to IMAGE, starting with editor/author Gregory Wolfe. Also on tap are Robert Clark, Madeline DeFrees, and Mary Kenagy Mitchell.
