One of this season's highlights was the publication of Unstuck in Time: A Journey Through Kurt Vonnegut's Life and Novels (Seven Stories Press). Tonight the author of this book, historian and University of Detroit professor Gregory Sumner speaks about this life and times 'biography' of Vonnegut's books, including his fourteen novels. Kurt Vonnegut, whose visits to Seattle and Elliott Bay are fondly remembered, remained devoted throughout his life to an alternative American Dream story, one full of possibility even at the darkest hour. Gregory Sumner brings Vonnegut's life into focus through these books, which were written under dramatically changing personal circumstances, and against some seismic shifts in our country's history.
