We continue our Thirteenth Annual Staged Play Reading Series with a reading of ReAct's sequel to Uncle Hideki, Jean Davies Okimoto's charming family comedy, Uncle Hideki & The Empty Nest. Continuing the celebration of the 80th birthday of local community activist Herb Tsuchiya—co-founder of the Seattle Walk for Rice and Kin On Health Care Center—this play starring Tsuchiya picks up 10 years later in the lives of the Suyama clan. Helen has remarried and sold the family home on Beacon Hill. Rodney and Suzanne have both grown up and moved out, and with his boyfriend Mark, Rodney has even come out when their cantankerous Uncle Hideki announces another unforgettable surprise visit.
