BASSEM YOUSSEF at The Neptune Theatre

Co-presented with SEATTLE THEATRE GROUP (STG).

We are thrilled to help present this welcome Seattle return visit by Bassem Youssef, widely considered the ‘Jon Stewart of the Arabic World,’ a onetime heart surgeon who became a political satirist, the creator of an ‘incendiary’ television program, Al-Bernameg (The Program), which chronicled the tumultuous events of the 2011 Egyptian revolution. This time he is here this with a book, Revolution for Dummies: Laughing Through the Arab Spring (Dey Street), which documents those times, the charges then made against him and the show for insults to the government and Islam, the show’s termination, his leaving Egypt, and the states of things today. He continues to monitor and comment on developments, bringing needed perspective for readers everywhere.

“Hilarious and Heartbreaking. Comedy shouldn’t take courage, but it made an exception for Bassem.” — Jon Stewart.

Tickets are $30, include a copy of Revolution for Dummies and admit one person. Tickets and more information are available at stgpresents.org. The Neptune Theatre is at 1303 NE 45th Street.
