Maria Alyokhina of Pussy Riot

As part of a Seattle visit highlighted by the Seattle production of the Belarus Free Theatre’s Burning Doors, to be staged in Russian with English subtitles at On the Boards, we are thrilled to help present Maria Alyokhina, here from her Moscow home. She is a founding member of Pussy Riot and an internationally renowned political activist, the recipient of the LennonOno Grant for Peace and the Hannah Arendt Award for Political Thought. She is also now author of  the book, Riot Days (Metropolitan Books), a vivid account of Pussy Riot’s performances, actions, and persecution, including her two-year prison term for ‘organized hooliganism.’ She and what she is about is as timely as it gets - for matters in her home country, and for matters here.

"Riot Days is one of the most brilliant and inspiring things I’ve read in years. This book is freedom." —Chris Kraus.
