SAYANTANI DASGUPTA & E.M. SLOAN
Two visiting writers from the University of Idaho will give a joint reading from recently published books. Sayantani DasGupta will read from her debut essay collection, Fire Girl: Essays on India, America, and the In-Between from the splendid Two Sylvias Press. And E.M. Sloan is here with a historical WWII memoir, When Songbirds Returned to Paris (Fawkes Press).
“Dasgupta writes with such keen intelligence and vivid clarity that we can’t help be taken in.” - Kim Barnes.
“Cultures, languages, religions, landscapes, legacies--this is a writer who contains multitudes.” - Peggy Shumaker.
"With an innovative narrative structure and lively cast of characters, Elizabeth Sloan’s When Songbirds Returned to Paris weaves a powerful family history set against the backdrop of world war. Sloan’s impressive research reminds us that with enough digging, remarkable, true stories can rise from the dead."—Buddy Levy.
