Saturday University Islam Across Asia: Art Practices/Cultural Politics Lecture  Series, presented by the GARDNER CENTER FOR ASIAN ART AND IDEAS, in partnership with the UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON JACKSON SCHOOL OF INTERNATIONAL STUDIES, SEATTLE UNIVERSITY and ELLIOTT BAY BOOK COMPANY.

This morning the new year’s Saturday University morning lecture series with a timely theme, in a new location, owing to renovation of the Seattle Asian Art Museum, continues. Piggott Auditorium in Piggott Hall on the very central Seattle University campus is the locale for this spring’s lecture series featuring scholars, artists, and others who will discuss aspects of Islam’s central role and presence in Asian art and culture. Today’s speaker is Sharmini Pereira, an independent international curator and art publisher. Her lecture subject is “Canvassing the Book.”
