SIBYL JAMES & JUDITH ROCHE
This evening we invite you to a reading by two local poets both published by Seattle’s Black Heron Press. Sybil James, also known for her fiction and travel memoirs, reads from her poetry collection, The Grand Piano Range. “At once humorous and wistful, the poems in The Grand Piano Range perfectly express our unanswered longings. We are ‘like separate stones/ that pitch down cliffs together, and have no word/ for avalanche." -Emily Warn. Appearing with her is Judith Roche, who will read from her most recent collection, All Fire, All Water. “Judith Roche has spent years patently developing an impressive body of poetry. In All Fire All Water, she demonstrates her considerable skills in presenting mature and nuanced passions, humor and hard-earned insights. There is much to be learned from these poems and much to be praised.” -Sam Hamill. Judith Roche’s previous collection, Wisdom of the Body, won an American Book Award.
