TESS GALLAGHER & LAWRENCE MATSUDA
Two wonderful, distinguished poets who happen to be good friends, Tess Gallagher and Lawrence Matsuda, have collaborated on a delightful new book of poems, Boogie-Woogie Crisscross (MadHat Press), which should make for a delightful evening here, as well. Written over the years, most when Tess Gallagher would be in Ireland, and Lawrence Matsuda in Seattle, the two corresponding, this is a playful, spirited exchange, one with verve and much affection. Tess Gallagher has published most of her poetry and fiction with Graywolf Press, a publishing relationship now extending back forty years, to when Instructions to the Double was published. Midnight Lantern: New and Selected Poems is her most recent major collection. Lawrence Matsuda is author of the poetry collection, A Cold Wind from Idaho, and an earlier collaborative effort, with artist Roger Shimomura, Glimpses of a Forever Foreigner.
