ELLIOTT BAY GLOBAL ISSUES & ETHICS BOOK GROUP Tuesday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Our Global Issues & Ethics Book Group is devoted to discussing books that cover the most relevant topics of our everyday lives. Chosen for the 2004 Project Censored Yearbook, Air America's Thom Hartmann shows how corporate culture gets away with unequal taxes, unequal accountability for crime, unequal influence, unequal privacy and unequal access to natural resources with impunity in Unequal Protection: The Rise of Corporate Dominance and the Theft of Human Rights. He doesn't stop there however, Hartmann proposes specific legal remedies to combat the thievery and abuse. Gerry Spence says, "Unequal Protection should be in the hands of every thinking American. If We do not awaken soon, democracy will be replaced by a new "Third Reich" of corporate tyranny. To be aware of the danger is the responsibility of each of us."
