ELLIOTT BAY BOOK GROUP Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m.
Each month, the Elliott Bay Book Club reads and discusses the best in contemporary fiction with the occasional classic thrown in for good measure. April's selection is The Egyptologist by Arthur Phillips. In the words of Stephen King The Egyptologist is, "Tragic, Pathetic, Blackly funny...with a Strange, growing undercurrent of Horror. You have never read a novel like it." Phillips' book is set in the desert plains of Egypt in 1922 where we find an Egyptologist obsessed with the tomb of an apocryphal king. It explores the themes of class, greed, ambition and the quest and desire for eternal life.
