NATALIE GOLDBERG
Friday, February 22 at 7 p.m. at Microsoft Auditorium, Seattle Public Central Library, 1000 Fourth Avenue

Co-Presented with the WASHINGTON CENTER FOR THE BOOK AT THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY. From a writer who is in so many respects an 'old friend from far away' for many readers and Elliott Bay audience members here, comes Natalie Goldberg. She, the author of such favorites as Writing Down the Bones, Wild Mind, The Great Failure, Long Quiet Highway, and more—makes this quite welcome return to read from and discuss her newest book, Old Friend from Far Away: The Practice of Writing Memoir (Free Press). "Old Friend from Far Away is not just a celebration of the memoir form, but an impassioned call to write, delivered by an author who knows how to zero in on the truth, and lead others there, as well. If you're serious about finding that voice inside yourself, Natalie Goldberg is a teacher you have to meet." – Steve Almond. "This remarkable book is about life, its richness, its stains, its strangeness, failures, and fun, and how we retrieve it from the hidden part of our imagination through the craft of writing. It is a book for all of us." – Joan Halifax, Ph.D. Free admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis (no tickets). The Seattle Public Central Library is located at 1000 Fourth Avenue (between Madison and Spring). The Library will close at its regular time of 6 p.m., and will reopen at the Fourth Avenue entrance at 6:30 p.m. for this event. Parking in the Central Library garage will be available for a $5 special event rate. For more information, please see www.spl.org, or call (206) 624-6600 or (206) 386-4650.
