SHOUT OUT! Group Reading Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m.
The first of two group readings that carry some connection in spirit, this afternoon's features contributors to a reading of work from Shout Out! Women of Color Respond to Violence (Seal Press), a new anthology of poetry, criticism, and creative nonfiction edited by Maria Ochoa and Barbara K. Ige. Shout Out! was born out of 'the hope that exists when women reach out to one another' and documents the responses of individuals and groups, survivors and activists working to end war, rape, murder, slavery, sex trade, domestic violence, poverty, and other forms of oppression. It is expected that Barbara K. Ige will be joined here today by a number of West Coast contributors, among them Sharline Chiang, Adriane Shown Deveney, Nandini Gunewardena, and Jackie Joice.
