Saturday, February 9 at 2 p.m. at Northgate Branch, Seattle Public Library, 10548 Fifth Avenue NE

Co-presented with THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY. Today's programs begin with a Seattle stop by a trio of younger poets from Native American and Latino backgrounds whose work has already received considerable acclaim. Erika Wurth, currently a visiting writer at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, is the author of Indian Trains (West End), a collect of poetry about urban mixed-bloods of multiple tribes. Sheryl Luna's collection of poetry, Pity the Drowned Horses (University of Notre Dame), won the Andres Montoya Prize for poetry. A finalist for the National Poetry Series book awards, she teaches at Metropolitan State College of Denver. Gabe Gomez's book, The Outer Bands, was also published by the University of Notre Dame Press, and is another Andres Montoya Prize-winner. Gabe Gomez is residency director at the Santa Fe Art Institute. Free admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Northgate Branch of the Seattle Public Library is located at 10548 Fifth Avenue NE. For more information on today, please call (206) 624-6600 or see www.spl.org.
