Co-presented with Harper's Magazine and THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY. Award-winning journalist and author Richard Rodriguez makes this welcome Seattle this evening to read from and discuss an essay in the January 2008 issue of Harper's Magazine, "The God of the Desert: Jerusalem and the Ecology of Monotheism," which is part of a larger piece he is working on concerning the ecology of the desert and monotheistic religion. Richard Rodriguez is the acclaimed author of Hunger of Memory, Days of Obligation, and, most recently, Brown: The Last Discovery of America. He is an editor at New American Media in San Francisco, and a regular essayist on PBS' The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. Free, no tickets necessary.
