CAT RUIZ Saturday, July 5 at 2 p.m.
Poet and former Seattle resident Cat Ruiz makes one of several local appearances here to read from her first poetry collection, Stirring Up the Water (Salt Publishing), winner of the Native Writers' Circle of the Americas First Book Award for Poetry. Cat Ruiz's work has appeared in Chrysanthemum and Raven Chronicles, and she has regularly appeared at Poets West, The Seattle Poetry Festival and other local series. She's currently teaching creative writing in California's Siskiyou County. "Cat Ruiz's poetry comes from many influences, many life times ... She speaks authoritatively, sensuously, robustly, and yet, she sings with a beautiful tenderness and musical lyricism." - Koon Woon.
