MIRA KAMDAR

Former Portland resident Mira Kamdar, presently a Senior Fellow at the World Policy Institute, is here as part of a Seattle visit for her new book, Planet India: How the Fastest-Growing Democracy is Transforming America and the World (Scribner). This is actually a return visit, as she read here some years ago for a well-received memoir, Motiaba's Tattoos. Planet India is an across-the-board look at a country still too little known or understood in much of the U.S. It's a dynamic nation, much changed by its relationship with the U.S. (and other countries). It is also playing a role in reshaping this country, as well.
