PETER PLATE Tuesday, March 6 at 8 p.m.
Writer and spoken word artist Peter Plate, the author of six novels, taught himself to write while squatting in abandoned buildings in San Francisco's Mission District. He makes this Elliott Bay return tonight to read from Soon the Rest Will Fall (Seven Stories), a new novel in which two former San Quentin cellmates face divergent futures after their release from prison. Friends (and lovers) who witnessed rapes, shooting, and riots on the inside, one of the ex-cons then wants to return to his wife and family. "Plate describes San Francisco with the careful eyes of an insider and without judgment...Peter Plate is one of the most intriguing novelists writing now." - Review of Contemporary Fiction.
