TRACIE FRANK with DAWN MARIE DANIELS & CANDACE SANDY Monday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Back in her hometown from her present home in Cologne, Germanyin part for the festivities attendant to the opening of the Northwest African American MuseumTracie Frank will hold forth here tonight, along with author/editors Dawn Marie Daniels and Candace Sandy. The latter two have written and compiled two popular books on making life more purposeful and meaningful, especially for African American women, and those who know/love them. Souls of My Sisters: Black Women Break Their Silence, Tell Their Stories, and Heal Their Spirits is an impressive anthology, seventy different women offering their insight, having their say. From Patti LaBelle and Mary J. Blige to women unknown in the larger world, there is a multitude in this book. There is also the book, Souls Revealed: A Souls of My Sisters Book of Revelations and Tools for Healing Your Life, Soul, and Spirit (both books, Kensington), and it is in here that Tracie Frank recounts the traumatic, then transforming story of the birth of her son, his survival against all seeming odds. This is a night that should be spirited, lively, and thoroughly engaging.
