Mavis Hara, a Hawai'ian of Japanese descent, is a renowned poet and fiction writer who work has appeared in the Bamboo Ridge literary journal for over 25 years. An Offering of Rice (Bamboo Ridge Press), her first collection of short stories, takes readers into the lives of plantation workers, contemporary cancer survivors, and motherhood in stories that span the generations.
