IRVING WARNER
Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Writer, harmonica artist, retired college professor, and former fish-and-game biologist Irving Warner makes this welcome return to read from his new Alaska-set book. The author of In Memory of Hawks, and Other Stories from Alaska and Wagner, Descending: The Wrath of the Salmon Queen, he draws on an invasion of the island of Attu by the Japanese during World War II in his newest, The War Journal of Lila Ann Smith (Pleasure Boat Studio). "Thoroughly researched, richly detailed, and exceptionally well written, it's an important addition to the literatures of both Alaska and World War II. Most importantly, it pays overdue homage to to some of that war's long forgotten victims. It's an impressive achievement." - David A. James, Fairbanks News-Miner.
