CHARLES D'AMBROSIO
Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Another long-awaited visit this week (following Tess Gallagher) by an esteemed Pacific Northwest writer is made tonight by Charles D'Ambrosio. Though he has read here from his award-winning book of essays, Orphans (Clear Cut), there has been a wait of ten years, following The Point, for new fiction. He is here this evening with The Dead Fish Museum (Knopf). "The mysteries of family run deep in this unsettling collection of stories about blood ties that bind, unravel and strangle. Though D'Ambrosio is hardly among the most prolific writers of the contemporary American short story, he ranks with the best...In his range of subject matter and narrative strategies, D'Ambrosio displays considerable creative ingenuity, yet his achievement extends well beyond formal invention. His fictional universe brims with the bittersweet richness of life." - Kirkus Reviews. "Charles D'Ambrosio works a rich, deep, dangerous seam in the broken-hearted rock of American fiction...No one writes better stories than these." - Michael Chabon.
