ELLIOTT BAY GLOBAL ISSUES & ETHICS BOOK GROUP Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Our Global Issues & Ethics Book Group is devoted to discussing books that cover the most relevant topics of our everyday lives. In King Leopold's Ghost: A Story if Greed, Terror and Heroism in Colonial Africa by Adam Hochschild, Hochschild chronicles how King Leopold of Belgium wrecked havoc and cut a murderous swath through the territories around the Congo River, while plundering it of riches. Tariq Ali writes, "Hochschild has produced a history like none other..." and the Vancouver Sun called it, "A book of terrible beauty...King Leopold's Ghost is essential reading for the new century."
