JOSHUA ROMAN A Recital Thursday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Presented with the assistance of the SEATTLE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. An evening quite different from what is greatly varied fare offered is in store as we are delighted to help present this special evening of solo cello, performed by Seattle Symphony principal cellist Joshua Roman. An Oklahoma native, Joshua Roman joined the Seattle Symphony before the 2006 season. The youngest principal cellist in SSO's history, he studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, has won top prizes at numerous competitions, and has performed with other orchestras in addition to SSO. An avid champion of contemporary music, Mr. Roman has premiered many works, including his own original compositions, as well as solos, sonatas, and concertos written expressly for him. Among those he has collaborated with are Samuel Adler, Earl Carliss, Franklin Cohen, Desmond Hoebig, Paul Kantor, Aaron Kay Kernis, Evelyne Luest-Kernis, Bill Preucil, Lynn Ramsey, Ann Schein, and Virginia Weckstrom. Whatever is on the 'bill' here tonight, this should an engaging and unique night for all concerned.
