IAN SHAPIRO Monday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall Seattle, 1119 Eighth Avenue
Co-presented with the TOWN HALL CENTER FOR CIVIC LIFE in association with the PACIFIC COUNCIL ON INTERNATIONAL POLICY. Yale political science professor and author Ian Shapiro explains, in his powerfully argued new book, Containment: Rebuilding a Global Strategy Against Terror (Princeton University), why the idea of containment is a better alternative to the Bush doctrine of preemptive war and unilateral action, and offers the best hope for protecting the United States' democracy. He argues that the 'war on terror' is misguided and that containment is the one alternative that offers real security, reclaims America's international stature, and promotes democracy around the world. $5 tickets at the door, handled by Town Hall (no advance). Preferred seating for Town Hall members. Town Hall Seattle is located at 1119 Eighth Avenue (entry on Seneca). For more information, please see www.townhallseattle.org or call (206) 652-4255.
