MEL STOTTLEMYRE Booksigning Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m.
Mel Stottlemyre is a man with roots and connections here (a child of Yakima Valley's Mabton, a resident now of the Seattle area) and New York City (for many years a pitching star with the Yankees, then an esteemed pitching coach for the Mets and Yankees). Both aspects of that world connect today, with the New York Yankees in town to play the Mariners down south a few blocks, and Mel Stottlemyre here to sign copies of his new memoir, Pride and Pinstripes: The Yankees, the Mets, and Surviving Life's Challenges (HarperCollins). This is an inspiring story of dedication on the field (he pitched in some tough years for the Yankees, coached both the Mets and Yankees in years of triumph and travail), and off-field perseverance through deaths in his family and his own battles with serious illness. Please note: Mel Stottlemyre will ONLY be signing copies of Pride and Pinstripes. No memorabilia, baseball cards, other items, etc. Our thanks for your understanding and compliance.
