PHILIP GOUREVITCH with MARCIE SILLMAN Tuesday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m.
A special night is in-store as Philip Gourevitch, himself an extraordinary writer and now the editor of the venerable literary journal The Paris Review, is here to talk about what he is doing now, and about the delightful new book, The Paris Review Interviews: Volume 1 (Picador). Those included in this book include Jorge-Luis Borges, Kurt Vonnegut, Elizabeth Bishop, Dorothy Parker, and Joan Didion. Appropriately enough, this evening will carry some interview flavor as KUOW's Marcie Sillman converses with Philip Gourevitch here. Philip Gourevitch is also a staff writer at The New Yorker, and the author of A Cold Case and the National Book Critics Circle Award-winning We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with Our Families. "The Paris Review's Writers at Work series is thrilling and terrifying, in part because the writers in the interviews are not technically at work. But nonetheless, here are their funny stories, their habits, dubious opinions, financial complaintsthese glimpses comprise an engaging and important literary record." - Lorrie Moore.
