WILLA SCHNEBERG & ANITA FENG Sunday, November 19 at 2 p.m.
Co-presented with Calyx Journal of Art and Literature by Women. This afternoon's program features two Northwest women writers published both by Calyx Journal, and its book-publishing wing. Willa Schneberg reads from Storytelling in Cambodia (Calyx), a book of linked poems about Cambodia beginning in mythic times, continuing through the Killing Fields, and into the time of free elections. "A rare book, not only in its scope and vision in general but in its grasp of Cambodian history and culture...[Schneberg] presents us with a tapestry of Cambodian life and history and her ongoing life in context." - U Sam Oeur and Ken McCullough. Seattle poet Anita Feng, also a noted maker of artisan ocharinas, reads from two recently published poetry collections, Sadie & Mendel (Backwaters Press) and Internal Strategies (University of Akron). "Anita Feng's poems articulate quiet courage, humility, subtlety and authentic grace in a seamless book, the voice calm and wise as the proverbial ch'an master who, nose-to-nose with the tiger, does not blink." - Sam Hamill on Internal Strategies.
