STEWART O'NAN Wednesday, November 14 at 7 p.m. at WaMU Foundation Room, Seattle Public Central Library, 1000 Fourth Avenue
Co-presented with the WASHINGTON CENTER FOR THE BOOK AT THE SEATTLE PUBLIC LIBRARY. We are delighted to help present this reading by acclaimed novelist Stewart O'Nan. He who has written ten novels and a number of nonfiction books, and is a thoroughly happy camper on the baseball front (among his books is one on the Boston Red Sox, co-authored with Stephen King) is here with a beautiful, wry, insightful gem of a novel, Last Night at the Lobster (Viking). "There are only a few writers who can immerse a reader so fully and completely into a world the way Stewart O'Nan manages to in his fiction...in etching lives and jobs and relationships that are so inextricably tied to land and work and weather and loss and love...This invisible universe is populated with people readers need to see, and people who will lower their heads into the storm and go out to love again." - Susan Straight. "What a victory for a writer to make this failing restaurant the enchanted landscape of his elegiac story. As the cast of characters dwindles and the night bears on, O'Nan lights this world with unusual empathy." - Ron Carlson. Free admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The reading will take place in the Washington Mutual Foundation Room, Level 4, Room 1. The Seattle Public Central Library is located at 1000 Fourth Avenue (between Madison & Spring). Special $5 rate coupons for parking in the Central Library garage will be available on a limited basis. For more information, please see www.spl.org, or call (206) 386-4650 or (206) 624-6600.
