WENDELL BERRY Thursday, November 4 at 7 p.m. at Seattle First Baptist Church, 1111 Harvard
Co-presented with SEATTLE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH as part of its Seattle Spiritual Synthesis Series, EARTH MINISTRY, and IMAGE: A Journal of the Arts & Religion. Somehow we get the feeling it will feel like a long time between Sunday, October 31 and this date, four days later. November 2, of course, is the U.S. General Election. Whatever has shaken down from that date will still be very much in the air. We can think of few individuals whom it would be better to be gathered with at such a time than one of this country's most vital, most compassionate, most knowing writers, Wendell Berry. This is early word here to say he is appearing for a wonderful new novel, Hannah Coulter (Shoemaker & Hoard). This continues the unique, ongoing saga of the lives of the people of a fictional place, Port William, Kentucky. Also on hand since his last Seattle visit is the very timely - and timeless - book of essays, Citizenship Papers (also Shoemaker & Hoard). Admission will be free. Seattle First Baptist Church is located at 1111 Harvard, the corner of Seneca & Harvard on Seattle's First Hill. Check back for more information online or pick up our November flyer.
