Yes, surprises are in store. Doris and Dr. Benny Haggis-on-Whey, along with certain supporting friends Dave and Toph Eggers, are all expected to be on hand for a presentation / performance / song & dance for two illuminating new books, Your Disgusting Head: The Darkest, Most Moist and Sickening Secrets of Your Ears, Mouth and Nose and Giraffes? Giraffes! (both Brutus Blue Publishing Force/Simon & Schuster). The first book tells you a lot about some of your most important body parts. The second book tells you a lot of important things about giraffes. Be prepared to learn a lot. This visit comes about ten minutes after Dave Eggers was up in Seattle for the McSweeney's anthology, Created in Darkness By Troubled Americans (Knopf) and The Future Dictionary of America. New stories, How We Are Hungry, are due soon from McSweeney's. The authors' profits from these newest titles will benefit the nonprofit student writing programs, 826 Valencia, in San Francisco, and 826NYC, in Brooklyn. Fun!
