Co-presented by the JEWISH VOICE FOR PEACE-SEATTLE and THE AFRICAN AMERICAN/JEWISH COALITION FOR JUSTICE. Feminist scholar Melanie Kaye/Kantrowitz explores many less visible aspects of contemporary Jewish identity and activism, including Jews and whiteness, African/Jewish relations, the racial mix of the Jewish community, and other topics in her book The Colors of Jews: Racial Politics and Radical Diasporism (Indiana University). Ms. Kaye/Kantrowitz is a longtime political activist whose previous books include The Issue of Power and, as co-editor, The Tribe of Dina. "Mind-stretching, moving, and pragmatic ... this is a book of hope, based on experience. It deserves wide circulation and serious discussion." - Adrienne Rich.
