EMILY WARN
Saturday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Co-presented with COPPER CANYON PRESS. Seattle poet Emily Warn makes this welcome return appearance to read from her beautiful, third collection of poetry, Shadow Architect (Copper Canyon). Shadow Architect is a moving, searching meditation on and through the twenty-two characters of the Hebrew alphabet, an alphabet 'mystics have long considered a key to divine intent, believing that God brought the world into being through speech.' Emily Warn works lucidly and allusively in her approach. "Warn's clear, inviting lines draw on the shapes of the [Hebrew] letters, [she] has created a serious meditation on Jewish prayer and cosmogony, in lyrical prose and in accessible verse, a book that belong not only on poetry shelves, but amid other Judaica and books of prose and verse on religious themes." - Publishers Weekly. Also a Webby Award-winning editor for PoetryFoundation.org, Emily Warn is the author of two earlier books from Copper Canyon, The Leaf Path and The Novice Insomniac.
