PETER LUDWIN & JAMES BERTOLINO

Two fine Northwest poets read from newly published collections. With Peter Ludwin, an Artist Trust fellowship recipient who lives in Kent, it's a debut, A Guest In All Your Houses (Word Walker Press). "With a voice informal and direct, Peter Ludwin evokes a world where people, geography and time overlap like waves, washing around and through one another. Often journeying into landscapes that initially appear barren of elements from which to draw solace, he finds a harsh beauty that sharpens the contours of the lives of those he encounters there ... Ludwin's poems breathe deeply." - Michael Spence. Also reading tonight, down from Bellingham, is James Bertolino. Finding Water, Holding Stone (Cherry Grove) is his tenth collection. "In Finding Water, Holding Stone, Bertolino's voice is assured, his language so dexterous the craft is almost invisible. He is part-sage, part-priest, part-naturalist, part-trapeze artist who moves with the greatest of ease." - Denise Duhamel.
