MONICA MURPHY LEMOINE

07/17/2010 2:00 pm
Seattle writer and cartoonist Monica Murphy Lemoine writes with candor and humor about what she calls "the strange land of almost-parenthood," in her memoir, Knocked Up, Knocked Down (Catalyst Book Press). One of the relatively few writers to openly address miscarriage and stillbirth, she is the founding editor of Exhale, an online literary magazine related to pregnancy loss and infertility, and a contributor to Hip Mama and Reality Mom. She writers that she and her husband often say that with the birth of their son, they are now the proud parents of three: "one on the ground ... and two in the MTV Real-World Penthouse for Bitchin' Stillborn Babes."
