GEORGE SUYAMA in conversation with GRANT HILDEBRAND

07/13/2011 7:00 pm
Pacific Northwest icon George Suyama's architectural practice began in Seattle in 1971 and continues today, as part of Suyama Peterson Deguchi. Architect and architectural historian Grant Hildebrand, author of Suyama: A Complex Serenity (University of Washington Press/Marquand Books), appears in conversation with his colleague and friend, George Suyama this evening, to discuss life and work. "Suyama: A Complex Serenity reveals via full-color photographs of regional projects Suyama's trademark blend of Japanese minimalism and a Northwest emphasis on bringing the outdoors inside. Determined to eliminate 'visual noise,' Suyama designs structures simultaneously still and thrilling. How lucky we are to have such an artist bringing manmade beauty to our natural spaces." – Seattle Magazine.
