Co-presented with AROSA CAFÉ. As part of the 50th Anniversary of all things Century 21, we throw our own celebration of the 1962 World's Fair. Beginning at 2 p.m., the festivities begin with a talk by Knute Berger of Crosscut whose new book, Space Needle: Spirit of Seattle (Documentary Media) contains many new stories and images. At 3 p.m. Knute Berger will be joined by History Link historians Paula Becker & Alan J. Stein, authors of The Future Remembered: The 1962 Seattle World's Fair and Its Legacy (Century 21 Foundation) and novelist Jim Lynch, whose latest book, Truth Like the Sun (Knopf), is set in part during the fair, for a lively discussion of all Century 21-related matters. Some will recall that Belgian Waffles were introduced at Century 21 and thanks to the generosity of Arosa Cafe of Madison Valley, we'll have free samples of its version of the famous World's Fair Strawberries & Cream Belgian Waffles as part of today's program.
