It's a genuine pleasure to welcome of one of our former Elliott Bay booksellers, now writer and artist Irene Akio, here to celebrate the release of T for Tokyo, a children's picture book from Things Asian Press. In this bilingual, Japanese/English book, beautifully illustrated and for all ages, a father talks to his young daughter Mina about Tokyo, the city where she was born. Daruma, Harajuku Girls, Meiji Shrine, and Oni are just some of the discoveries she makes. We welcome children, parents, Japanese language learners, and all others to meet author/illustrator Irene Akio. Like Mina, she is bilingual, of both Japanese and Anglo American heritage, and a keen observer of both cultures.
