Please join us this afternoon as another Capitol Hill writer, music critic/historian Gillian G. Gaar discusses her new book, Return of the King: Elvis Presley's Great Comeback (Jawbone Press). Based on exhaustive research and many interviews with bandmates and contemporaries, Return of the King covers the events that followed Elvis' 1968 "Comeback Special" and his 1969 Memphis recordings, which produced such hits as "In the Ghetto" and "Kentucky Rain." As usual, she's uncovered some great, often hair-raising, little-known stories. Gillian Gaar's other books include She's a Rebel: The History of Women in Rock 'n' Roll, Green Day: Rebels with a Cause, and The Rough Guide to Nirvana.
