DAVID TANIS with AMY PENNINGTON

11/18/2010 12:00 pm
Special midday at Elliott presentation. We are delighted to host this midday conversational repast as renowned chef/author David Tanis visits Seattle with his much-anticipated new cookbook, Heart of the Artichoke and Other Kitchen Journeys (Artisan), to be joined by Amy Pennington, a major local food writer and author of Urban Pantry. David Tanis is head chef at Berkeley's Chez Panisse (where he's worked since the 1980s) for six months a year, with the other half of the year spent in Paris hosting dinners out of a small kitchen. His earlier book, A Platter of Figs, has been a longstanding bestseller. Heart of the Artichoke continues in much the same vein as its predecessor, championing the fresh, local, and in-season, which is something David Tanis has been in the forefront of internationally. "David's menus are incomparable. They all show a certain quality of harmonious simplicity uniquely his." - Alice Waters. This should be scintillating—and fun. Please join us. Please note: Edible Seattle magazine editor Jill Lightner who was originally scheduled to participate at this event has had to cancel.
