DAVE EGGERS |
--LATE BREAKING ADDITION!--
As part of a Seattle visit highlighted by his appearing at an 826 Seattle benefit screening of the new Spike Jonez film, Where the Wild Things Are, at the Cinerama Theater this evening (see www.826seattle.org for information), Dave Eggers makes this most welcome return visit to Elliott Bay. He is here with two very recent books in hand: Zeitoun, his compelling, widely lauded, deeply engaging account of Hurricane Katrina's aftermath as told through the lives of one family; and just-arriving this week, The Wild Things, his novel version of Maurice Sendak's classic Where the Wild Things Are—for which Dave Eggers wrote the screenplay. Both books come from McSweeney's Books of San Francisco. The Wild Things is due to appear in both the more customary paper-over-board cover McSweeney's (tastefully) favors and a special, fur-covered edition Wild thing, indeed.. Whatever is read from or talked about, this should be fun for all concerned. Please join us. And check with the Elliott Bay Café at (206) 682-6664 or www.elliottbaycafe.com about their Corned Beef Sandwich lunch special available the day of this program.
