Book Drive for Preschoolers from Homeless Families
September 12 - October 22, 2010
Reading aloud to a child is an important learning and bonding activity, but for children in an unstable housing situation, books can be hard to come by. Help us collect new board books for the 300 preschool kids without homes in King County. The books will be distributed by Project Cool of the Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness. Project Cool for Back to School provides school supplies for more than 2,000 children in King County every year. The 300 preschoolers who receive "goodie bags" from Project Cool usually get board books in their bags, but this year there wasn't enough money for those books.
Please bring your new book donation to Elliott Bay, or other collection sites, or ship them to: Preschool Book Drive, Seattle University Department of Communication, 901 12th Avenue, Lynn Building 300, Seattle, WA 98122. Please call (206) 296-2034 or visit www.preschoolbookdrive.com for more information as well as a complete list of other desired board books for the drive.
If you'd like to order and donate your books online through our website, please simply note your purchase is for the book drive in the comments section when placing your order.
