The Hugo Awards

The Science Fiction Achievement Award, also known as the Hugo Award was initiated by World Science Fiction Convention and named for Hugo Gernsback, the "founder" of the genre. Winners are selected by convention members by mailed ballot and are presented annually each Labor Day weekend. Science fiction and fantasy writers, artists, and professional and amateur publishers are eligible for the awards but must be nominated.
