By the Shore: Explore the Pacific Northwest Coast Like a Local (Paperback)
By the Shore is about to blow your summer bucket list out of the saltwater. It is both a travel and adventure guide, and is filled with activities, day trips, and weekend inspiration. It includes a compendium of seasonal festivals and guides to, for example, using a crab pot, making your own sea salt, and watching bioluminescence (hint: do it at night). Author Nancy Blakey lives on Bainbridge Island and has spent a lifetime exploring local beaches and waterways during all four seasons. When winter's heavy clouds return, you can flip to the section listing ideal beaches for storm-watching—but let's not think about that now. It's time to grab your sunscreen and get sandy. -Katie— From Summer Booknotes 2018
