Brenda Peterson & Ed Young
Please join us for an afternoon with Seattle nature writer Brenda Peterson and Caldecott medalist Ed Young, who will read from their new children's picture book, Catastrophe by the Sea (West Margin Press). In Catastrophe by the Sea, Catastrophe, a lost cat, befriends some barnacles and sea anemones on a beach. Once a bully, the beautiful cat learns how his new friends survive in their tide pool. This captivating story celebrates some unlikely heroes (unlikely but beloved by many young visitors to Seattle Aquarium’s touch tank!) and is illustrated in a paper collage style.
Ed Young was born in Tientsin, raised in Shanghai and now lives in Westchester County in New York. He has illustrated over ninety books for children, including The Cat From Hunger Mountain, Wabi Sabi and Mighty Moby.
Brenda Peterson's many books for adults and children include I Want to Be Left Behind, Wolf Nation, Leopard and Silky and Wild Orca.
Both children and adults are most welcome to attend! Co-presented by WING LUKE MUSEUM OF THE ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN EXPERIENCE, the SEATTLE AQUARIUM, and ELLIOTT BAY BOOK COMPANY.
