We are delighted, as the first of a number of readings around the city, to celebrate publication of Seattle Civic Poet Claudia Castro Luna’s long-awaited chapbook of poems, This City. Published by Seattle’s own Floating Bridge Press, This City draws from the poet’s awareness of people here in playing the civic role she plays. Even more, it draws on her own background as an urban planner, a student of how we occupy city spaces, how we relate, how we shape and are shaped by where we are. Claudia Castro Luna is a 2014 Jack Straw Fellow, a VONA alumna, and has published poems along the way in numerous journals. She is presently working on a memoir about her country of origin, El Salvador. This evening should be special.
