David Guterson

Most known and celebrated for his fiction writing - the PEN/Faulkner Award-winning Snow Falling on Cedars, East of the Mountains, Our Lady of the Forest, The Other, Ed King, and story collections - Bainbridge Island’s David Guterson has in recent years been writing and publishing poems. His 2014 collection, Songs For a Summons, is now followed by his newest, Turn Around Time: A Walking Poem for the Pacific Northwest (The Mountaineers). Beautifully illustrated by Justin Gibbens, this is companionable work for reading inside or, even better, out on a trail or at a campsite. It’s a love song, really, to the beauty and larger than human presence of what we are amidst here in this part of the planet.
