Gillian G. Gaar

Seattle journalist and music writer Gillian G. Gaar has covered Seattle’s music scene for decades, serving as senior editor at The Rocket, and writing for Mojo, Rolling Stone, MoPop and other publications and organization. Her book, World Domination: The Sub Pop Records Story (BMG), begins with Seattle’s Sub Pop Records founding by Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman  in the late 1980s. Sub Pop released early recordings by bands such as Green River, Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Mudhoney and promoted bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, the Fastbacks, Shabazz Palaces and Sleater-Kinney and is still a beloved and very  influential indie powerhouse label today.
