Here from upstate New York where he teaches at Cornell and making a welcome Elliott Bay return is fiction writer J. Robert Lennon. He follows his 2014 visit for his book of stories, See You in Paradise, with this for a touted, riveting new novel, Broken River (Graywolf Press). Reading with him, and making an appearance that is noteworthy for other reasons is Elissa Washuta, author of My Body is a Book of Rules (Red Hen), and a much-loved member of the local literary community. She will be moving from the area soon to take a full-level faculty position as an assistant professor of English at Ohio State University in Columbus. In Broken River, a couple that makes a move in part to patch up a failing marriage unwittingly moves to a house lived in by victims of an unsolved murder.

“An intimate portrait of the violence we do to each other, about family and art and the scars of unspeakable acts. Broken River blisters and rips and ultimately soars. I loved it.”―Lauren Beukes.

“Compelling from the first page, and then smart, sophisticated, suspenseful and satisfying throughout―Broken River is a first–class ride.”―Lee Child.
